There's all that, but I don't think I appreciate the instrumentation of anything she's done more than I fucking adore the production of A World Alone. That's what Pure Heroine sums up as for me, Lorde saying to her listener "this is me for you." This isn't us for them, this is us for us. Every show closes with "let 'em talk." Because fuck them. Maybe I'm just biased toward conclusions instead of introductions because they leave the final lasting impact of a first impression, but holy god mother of Judas Iscariot is that a fantastic way to go out. A World Alone is a conclusion to an experience. Maybe listen to it again to let it sink in. Like, if I had a couple hours to introduce someone to Lorde, what better way than to say "here's her first release. I respect her so much for that, the way her first album is just so cohesive but also interacts with her first EP.
